Terms and Conditions

Peg’s Surf Coaching is endorsed by Surfing England, and as such adheres to Surfing England and ISA (International Surfing Association) practices.

Enquiries are welcome through a range of platforms, including website, telephone call, text, WhatsApp, email, Messenger. We run small group lessons, and pride ourselves on the personal touch. We would encourage you to talk to us about your experience, skill level, needs and expectations / hopes for a lesson before booking with us. For this reason, we do not have an automated booking system


By booking surfing lessons with Peg’s Surf Coaching, and participating in surfing lessons, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

Booking a lesson

  • Lesson times are not published on the website as they vary in relation to the expected tide times and conditions, however the start time of your session will be confirmed at the time of booking

  • Full payment for the lesson will be required to confirm your booking, and you will receive written confirmation via email or text.

  • Once payment has been taken for a booking with Peg’s Surf Coaching, a contract will have been formed between you as the customer and Peg’s Surf Coaching.

  • It is the responsibility of the person(s) who finalise the payment to read the terms and conditions in full and to ensure that everyone within their party is aware of, and adheres to, all elements in this document

  • Lesson prices printed on the website or on other media are valid at the time of publication. Peg’s Surf Coaching reserves the right to increase or reduce any of the prices any time after publication, and occasionally promotional offers will be available. On the day of booking you will be charged the price of the lessons as published on the website.

  • Minimum age for children to participate unaccompanied in a surf lesson is 8 years old. Parents or guardians are required to accompany children who are under 8 years of age into the water. Ages of children under the age of 18 must be confirmed at the time of booking


Cancellation or changes to booking

  • Peg’s Surf School reserves the right to cancel or change bookings subject to notification of, and discussion with, lesson participants. For example, surf conditions are affected by a range of external factors and occasionally it will not be possible to surf at the agreed time / venue (e.g. the beach is deemed unsafe / has been ‘red-flagged’, or the surf is ‘flat calm’). Wherever possible, you will be offered a lesson at a different beach or at a different time. You will be notified of such changes in advance by text, email or phone.

  • Where it has been necessary for Peg’s Surf School to cancel a lesson, and no suitable alternative arrangement is possible, you will be offered a voucher (valid for a year) or a full refund.

  • If you need to cancel or are unable to attend a surfing session, you must notify us in advance in writing. The following cancellation fees apply:

* Up to 7 days notice to date of lesson – offered a voucher (valid for a year) or a full refund.

*  3 to 6 (inclusive) days notice – offered a voucher (valid for a year) or a 50% refund.

* Less than 3 days notice – no refund

Accessible lessons

  • We endeavour to ensure that all our surfing sessions are accessible to surfers with a range of abilities, needs, experience, skill levels or disabilities. We advise you to make us aware your needs which may affect your participation in the lesson at the time of booking.

  • Our coaches are additionally registered with the ISA as specialist adaptive instructors. An adapted board, additional water support, or communication support can be provided as part of the lesson. This must be confirmed at the time of booking.

  • Where an adaptive surfer requires a familiar carer to accompany them in the water this will also be welcomed, and should be confirmed at the time of booking.


Customer health and safety

  • A registration document must be completed for all participants prior to taking part in a coaching sessions. (This document includes details of emergency contacts and a health declaration.) Where a participant is under 18years old, this must be completed by an adult with appropriate guardianship. This document will be available for you to complete online prior to arrival.

  • Surfing is a water-based, physical activity. Participants are responsible for ensuring that they are physically fit enough to take part, and that they make Peg’s Surf Coaching aware of any illness, health issue or medication which may affect their ability to participate safely. If you are in any doubt about your physical fitness, we recommend that you seek medical advice from your doctor or specialist prior to your booking

  • Peg’s Surf Coaching reserves the right to prohibit or ask anyone to leave the lesson if we believe that anyone is unfit to participate due to illness, medical condition or injury

  • The coaches will always have access to first aid equipment, please make them aware if you become ill or need access to this during a lesson

  • Peg’s Surf Coaching coaches hold valid coaching and watersafety qualifications. The coach has responsibility for the safe participation and enjoyment of all those taking part in the session, and maintains the right to refuse individuals to take part for any of the following reasons: abusive or unreasonable behaviour; drug or alcohol influence; undeclared health or medical reasons which would endanger the individual or others within the session.


Equipment

  • Peg’s Surf Coaching can provide all necessary wetsuits and surfboards required for the lesson – arrangement for collection and provision will be confirmed in advance of the session

  • Participants are welcome to provide their own equipment for the lesson, but Peg’s Surf Coaching reserves the right to make decisions on the appropriate suitability and safety of equipment used in any lesson

  • A rash vest will be provided and must be worn throughout the lesson over the top of your wetsuit for easy identification of lesson participants

  • All borrowed equipment should be returned to Peg’s Surf Coaching at the end of the lesson in the condition in which it was originally loaned. Peg’s Surf Coaching acknowledges that accidental damage can occur through use and participation, however you will be asked to pay for any deliberate, avoidable or wilful damage to equipment.


Photography

  • We may take photographs or video footage within the surf lessons. These may be used for our own professional development and review of lesson structure; or for promotional purposes on our own website or social media (FaceBook or Istagram). Through participation in the lesson, you agree to publication and usage of videos and photographs in the ways identified. You will be made aware of our intention to make recordings at the time of the session, and will have the opportunity to request not to be included in this.


Lesson participation, liability and other important information

  • By taking part in surf lessons supplied by Peg’s Surf Coaching I agree to the following:

    • I accept that I participate at my own risk and I confirm that I have my own insurance to cover any such injury, loss or damage or have chosen not to take out such insurance even though I understand that this is my responsibility

    • I have declared any medical conditions (e.g. asthma, epilepsy etc.) or any other special needs that may affect mine or others’ safety whilst participating and accept Peg’s Surf Coaching do not accept any responsibility for any conditions not disclosed.

    • I will not be permitted to consume alcohol or drugs prior to or during the surf lessons. Staff reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone considered to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

    • I agree to allow Peg’s Surf Coaching to use photographs, of the surf lessons, taken by them or any nominated third party, for their promotional purposes, or service improvement.

    • I agree to abide by all decisions and adhere to all instructions that Peg’s Surf Coaching staff and instructors make whilst under their supervision

    • Peg’s Surf Coaching staff may require any participant to leave the surf lesson without compensation if that person acts in such a manner as to endanger him/herself or any other user or staff member.

    • I agree that my contact details will be securely held by Peg’s Surf Coaching database in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

  • Peg’s Surf Coaching assume no liability in respect of personal injury, loss, damage or third party claims which occur through no fault of their own or their instructors or employees unless Peg’s Surf Coaching can be proven negligent.
