MEET THE TEAM

Peg profile.jpg

Peg has been surfing most of his life and has surfed breaks all over the world. He has surfed the beaches of Cornwall, and especially Perranporth and surrounding beaches in all seasons across more years than he cares to admit. He is well aware of both the perils and joys of surfing the local breaks

His passion is to share his love of the ocean and of surfing with people of all ages, abilities and challenges.

As an amputee surfer himself, competing and coaching internationally,  Peg maintains a 'can-do' attitude in his approach to coaching whether that relates to your inexperience, fears, disabilities, confidence or anything else that may hold you back. We all have to start somewhere, and if you are prepared to give it a go, then he will join you on that journey, and find a way for you to fall in love with surfing!

You are in safe hands:

  • Qualified Level 2 surf coach (ISA, International Surfing Association)

  • Qualified Beach Lifeguard (SLSGB, Surf Life Saving GB)

  • Qualified, Adaptive Surf Instructor (ISA, International Surfing Association)

  • Qualified Level 2 Surf Life Saving Coach - Lead Coach (SLSGB)

  • Coach to members of the English Adaptive Surf Team

  • AASP World Champion (2022-23) in his division

  • Enthusiastic surfer with experience of breaks across the world, and 35+ years of surfing the beaches of Cornwall.

  • ... Peg sacrificed the opportunity to defend his World title in the summer of 2023, when instead he competed as a cast member of BBC's Survivor series, finishing in a creditable 5th position - the highest placed amputee across the long running series in USA & Australia! He has a story or 2 to share with you about that too!

No business could survive without an enthusiastic administrator who knows the business inside out and understands the needs of the customer, the skills of the coaches, and matches them up seamlessly.

Annie is an ISA Adaptive Surf Coach and an SLSGB Level 2 First Aider, and therefore often provides additional in-water or beachside support to the coaches, particularly within our adaptive sessions. What she lacks in 'elite' surfing skills, she makes up for in enthusiasm, a love of the ocean and an ability to laugh at her own attempts to aspire as a wanna be shredder!

Annie provides British Sign Language support for our deaf clients, and MAKATON to those individuals who use this communication system. As an ex-special needs teacher of 30years experience working with children and their families, rest assured that no question is too small or silly to be asked. All customers are treated with respect and with advocacy to ensure that from their initial contact with us to the time of leaving a successful lesson with Peg's Surfing Coaching, they feel that they are a part of our ever expanding surfing family.

Annie Etheridge - Administrator, Adaptive Surf Coach, First Aider and friendly person who answers phone calls and emails!
